Do people get ������Ƶ scholarships?

Yes! ������Ƶ awards hundreds of scholarships each year, but the competition is steep. Most ������Ƶ scholarship programs only award a few outstanding students and may receive hundreds of applications. While some ������Ƶ scholarships are open only to ������Ƶ members, most scholarships offered on the ������Ƶ site are open to all high school students, college students, or a mix of both.

Types of ������Ƶ scholarships

������Ƶ members have access to many scholarship resources, including those offered by employers and ������Ƶ partners. You will see a few types of ������Ƶ scholarships on the main scholarship page.

• The ������Ƶ Foundation scholarships cater to underrepresented students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who aspire to pursue STEM fields of study. These scholarships are also extended to individuals demonstrating a commitment to world betterment through their chosen degree programs.

• ������Ƶ scholarships are awarded to individuals for their accomplishments. For instance, the Be More Fund recognizes entrepreneurial spirit and influential voices among high school and college students.

While scholarships from ������Ƶ partners and sponsors may not be directly affiliated with ������Ƶ, they are featured as valuable resources for ������Ƶ members.

������Ƶ members also enjoy access to additional scholarship resources and opportunities. 

������Ƶ scholarship requirements

Most ������Ƶ scholarships do not require one to be a member of society, but the academic criteria are often the same to qualify. Each scholarship has specific requirements based on the goal of the scholarship program. An essay, cover letter, recommendation letter, transcript and headshot are typical application requirements. 

How many ������Ƶ scholarships are awarded each year?

There are more than 40 ������Ƶ scholarship programs, each awarding at least 2 students per year. Ongoing annual scholarship programs include:

• ������Ƶ STEAM Scholarship (10 awards)

• NHSSS Innovation in Technology (5 awards)

• ������Ƶ Research and Academic Paper Scholarship (10 awards)

• ������Ƶ Future Educators (5 awards)

• ������Ƶ Activism and Advocacy Scholarship (5 awards)

• ������Ƶ-DECA Scholarship (3 awards)

������Ƶ Foundation scholarships may have 1-5 winners per year. 

How to get ������Ƶ scholarships

The best way to earn ������Ƶ scholarships is by using the resources available to ������Ƶ members. Many scholarship resources, advice, and tips are available on the website through webinars and online and in-person events designed to help high school students and parents make the most of scholarship applications.

Here are some general tips to improve your chances of winning an ������Ƶ scholarship.

1. Apply for the right scholarships. Ensure you apply for ������Ƶ scholarships aligning with your accomplishments and goals.

2. Understand the requirements. Every scholarship is different. Ensure you meet the minimum requirements and understand what is expected from your application packet.

3. Choose the source of recommendation letters carefully. The person writing the recommendation letter should be intimately aware of your academic achievements, goals, and capabilities. 

4. Don’t skimp on the headshot. Most ������Ƶ scholarships request a headshot, and this shouldn’t be a selfie. It pays to use a clean and professional headshot. A formal senior picture is sufficient for most students.

5. Have a mentor review your application before you send it. Having an extra set of eyes on an essay or application packet never hurts. 

6. Take advantage of ������Ƶ webinars about funding college. ������Ƶ webinars and events frequently give the tools and knowledge you need to apply for and win ������Ƶ scholarships successfully.
